How do I know what size air filter I need?

Filters are measured in inches threefold by width-length-thickness. For example, a pleated air filter the measures out 16x20x1 would mean 16-inches wide by 20-inches long by one-inch thick.
In most cases you'll need to round up a half an inch to determine the filter size you'll need. For example, a 16x20 filter might actually measure out to 15-1/2" x 19-1/2".
Why do I need to change the air filter in my heating and cooling unit?
Dust, pollen and other microbes that float throughout the air in your home or business don’t just disappear – it’s the air filter within your heating and cooling unit that collects them. When your air filter becomes full of such pollutants and allergens, it diminishes your unit’s efficiency and ultimately leads to costly repairs or replacement.
How often should I change my HVAC filter?
Every residential and commercial unit is different and it depends on the volume of airborne particles in your area. Wait too long and your unit’s efficiency will drop. We recommend 1” Disposable filters be changed every 30 days. Air Cleaner (Cartridge Filters) should be changed every 90 days.
What is a MERV rating?
It stands for “Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value.” It’s a rating system created by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers in 1987 to document the effectiveness of air filters.
